ERIC is a distributor of biological formulations to improve soil and water health.
ERIC is dedicated to supporting the sustainability of agriculture, other land uses and the environment through the production and distribution of microbial formulations that are specifically designed to balance soil function and improve water quality.
Agriculture is sustainable when the enterprise is profitable and natural resources of the farm are healthy. The secret to sustainable farming is to create and maintain a biologically active, living soil with a balanced, abundant and diverse population of microbes.
Healthy living soils provide healthy plants, animals and humans.
Products
ERIC provides microbial formulations as a liquid for:
- Soils (cropping, pasture, viticulture, horticulture, forestry, etc.)
- Water bodies (dams, ponds, channels, etc.)
- Irrigation waters
- Nursery plants
- Sports grounds and gardens
- Animal sheds and animal care.
All products are specially formulated for each application.
Products are available in bulk (1000L shuttle) or 25L containers as a concentrate that is usually mixed with good quality water at a ratio of 1:10. An application rate of this mix is usually 80-90L per hectare.
Services
On farm
ERIC provides a comprehensive farm, land and water assessment including soil analysis, plant Brix measurements, monitoring of results and recommendations for microbial applications and other sustainable practices for soil mapping and analysis and water management; and biological farming.
Workshops
ERIC provides a one (1) day workshop for farmers or other groups on the techniques of microbial balancing of soil and water systems. This includes basics on soil biology, application of microbes, case studies on microbial balancing and advice on biological farming.
Technical papers
The ERIC website is continuously updated with papers on soil biology and microbial balancing. This includes links to other websites.
Benefits
- All products are non-harmful, non-pathogenic, non-genetically modified and not chemically synthesized.
- Products are probiotic and promote balanced beneficial microbial activity that competitively excludes pathogens and disease.
- Promote the assimilation of nutrients, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds from the soil to plants.
- Improve the chemistry and structure of soils to store significantly more water, nitrogen and carbon (as soil organic matter and humus)
- Support the decomposition, assimilation and neutralization of oxidative and odour substances in soil and water.
- Increased profitability and sustained production, and less input costs to rectify problems.
- Less disease in plants and animals.
- Elimination of soil acidity, salinity, mineral toxicity, compaction and erosion.
- Greater drought resilience.

Papers
Soil Mapping (28 KB)
ERIC has developed a process (SoilSelect) to map and describe soil properties at regional and paddock scales that can be applied at a fraction of the cost and time of traditional techniques. Also, see the SoilSelect link in this subsection.
Microbe Application Summary (584 KB)
This is a one page brochure on the Application of Environmental Microbes for soil, water and animal applications. The paper provides a concise explanation of the what, how, where and why of microbe applications.
SoilSelect (236 KB)
This paper outlines the SoilSelect methodology which was developed to provide soils information to address land use and management. SoilSelect is generally implemented using airborne gamma radiation data (radiometrics) to map soil patterns (ie. homogenises patterns of soil property variations).
Microbe Product Application Gallery (824 KB)
This microbe gallery is a 1 page collection of product application images.
